Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
The criteria for Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL) have been set for all phase one registrants. The amount of training and learning set down in the Registration Rules is stated in days (15) and hours (90) to show that the time does not have to be made up of full days of activity. The 15 days or equivalent must be completed within the three year registration period.
For Social Workers this must include five days (30 hours) training on the protection of children and adults.
Registrants who are working towards the attainment of formal certificated post qualifying awards may cite these studies as evidence of meeting Post Registration Training and Learning requirements.
PTRL may be gained through:
- study
- training
- courses
- seminars
- reading
- teaching, or
- other activities eg. Shadowing which could reasonably be expected to advance a registrant’s professional development, or contribute to the development of the profession as a whole.
