Voluntary Sector Reference Group for NHS Lothian, Strategic Review of Learning Disability Services
Background
NHS are reviewing services for people with Learning Disabilities across Lothian. This is in addition to some reviews being conducted by Local Authorities.
The purpose of the review is:
- To produce a current and future needs analysis
- To produce an audit of current service supply
- To produce an audit of current levels of resourcing
- Review and refresh models of care…
- Develop new, revised eligibility criteria
- Review the effectiveness and role of NHS specialist services
- Identify, review and recommend developments to meet needs of people with ASD/Aspergers
- Identify and develop preferred options to improve health provision for people with learning disabilities
- Review processes for admission to and discharge from in-patient services
- Identify possible dis-investments
Working groups are being set up to look at the following areas:
- Needs, Numbers and Finance
- Budget Analysis
- Needs Group - mapping existing services and statistics of service users
- Who pays for what? NHS or Local Authority
- Communication
- Person Centred Planning and Individual Funding (Direct Payments)
- Best Practice
- ASD & Aspergers Groups
- Additional Needs
- Older Adults
- Challenging Behaviour
- Mental Health / Addictions
- Homelessness
- Criminal Justice
- Epilepsy
- Profound Multiple Disability
- Transitions
The Reference Group
The reference group grew out of a meeting of interested parties held in October. Two voluntary sector representatives were selected to participate in the Review Board and feedback to the group. The Reference Group have put forward voluntary sector representatives for each of the subgroups.
