Core Minimum Dataset Consultation

The consultation closed in September.

The proposal is to produce a template for employers to record information about staff, employment and employers. This information would be centrally collated and used to inform research on the Social Care Workforce. The idea is that information would be collected once and used many times.

It is proposed that it will take about 5 years to phase in. If you are making changes to your payroll or information systems it would be wise to check the Dataset and use it to help decide what to record.

The draft template is available in the consultation document from http://www.scotland.gov.uk/ (Search for “Core Minimum Dataset”)

Update from SSSC November eBulletin 2005

"The basic structure of the proposed workforce intelligence system for social services – the Core Minimum Dataset - is being piloted in early December for the Voluntary Sector through eight voluntary organisations.

A member of the Workforce Intelligence Group (WIG) has been assigned to each organisation in the pilot to liaise during the collection exercise and gather information about any issues which may arise.

The exercise begins on 28 November 2005 and collation of the results will begin when the WIG next meets on 7 December 2005."
